This year we celebrated all that our volunteers do across the organisation by hosting a tea party in our hospice gardens.

Over 80 people attended The Mad Hatter's Tea Party this year as a thank you for all they do across the charity. The event recognises the significant contribution volunteers make in supporting life-limited patients across Cardiff.

Volunteers were welcomed with glasses of fresh pimms, prosecco, and elderflower fizz before tucking into a feast fit for the Queen of Hearts! Refreshments were provided by Blakemore Retail and Tesco, who both helped cover costs.

Performers for the event included Rebecca Hurn, who won 'best single' at the Cardiff Music Awards earlier this year. Local Syrian refugee Roushn knitted each volunteer their very own Welsh emblem - the daffodil. Children at local nursery Acorns painted thank you cards, which were handed out with roses by local organisation We Make Good Happen

Volunteers were also treated to a game of prize winning bingo hosted by our very own Nicky Piper! Prizes including a Portmeirion cake set, afternoon tea for two at the Pettigrew Tea Rooms, and a skate at Ice Arena Wales.

You can see all the photos from the event over on our Facebook page. We Make Good Happen have put together a great video about their involvement with the party, which you can see below. You can also find out how Welsh icon Cerys Matthews and American comedian Sarah Silverman got involved by reading this Wales Online article.
