George Thomas Hospice Care is based at Whitchurch Hospital in Cardiff. Their specialist services help to support those who have been diagnosed with cancer. Their mission is to add life to days when days cannot be added to life. Their specialist services help people understand what is happening to them, explain their choices and support both patient and family for as long as they need. They deliver specialist palliative care services in patients’ home, and help them make adjustments to the home to allow them to maintain independence for as long as possible.
Patients can also access a range of activities at their day centre which will help them meet new people who understand what they are going through and provide their family with a few hours respite too. All services are provided completely free of charge, but they must raise more than £1million every year in order to ensure they never have to turn a patient away.
