Volunteer Receptionist

Looking for a part-time volunteering role in the Cardiff area? Why not join George Thomas Hospice Care as a Volunteer Receptionist.

We’re looking for receptionists to support our busy front-of-house at our hospice site located on Whitchurch Hospital Grounds. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to support us on a regular basis for a few hours a week. We're particularly interested in hearing for people that would like to volunteer on Fridays.

The role involves meeting and greeting a wide variety of visitors to the hospice as well as directing incoming phone calls. It is a busy position and can involve dealing with distressed patients and/or family members.

Full training will be given to all volunteers. The role is subject to satisfactory references.

Collection Box Agent

Collection Box Agents drop off and collect our charity collection boxes across Cardiff. Volunteers can also help source new venues to hold boxes. This role is fully flexible, working to whatever hours and time commitment you can give.

If you are a sociable person with good networking skills and an outgoing personality then this is the volunteer role for you. You must be aged 18 or over and have your own transport. Local knowledge of the Cardiff area would be an advantage.

Shop volunteers

We're looking for volunteers for our charity shops in Whitchurch (CF14 1DJ), Clifton Street (CF24 1LX), Crwys Road (CF24 4NQ), Barry (CF63 4HD) and Penarth (CF64 2AB). Our shops are vital to raising funds to keep supporting terminally ill patients and their families for free.

It's a great way to get out of the house, meet new people, gain experience a reference and really put something back into your community. Shifts are only 3.5 hours a week or every other week (either a morning (9.30am to 1.00pm) or an afterrnoon (1.00pm to 4.30pm). Helping in our shops involves things like covering on the till, sorting and putting out stock as well as pricing items.

Patient Driver

Our patient numbers continue to rise and we urgently need more volunteer drivers to help bring in patients who otherwise may not be able to access some of our free services such as our day groups, counselling and clinics. For some patients it may be the only time that week they've left their house, helping prevent isolation. The patient undertake various activities including creative therapies, which may help some patients deal with the emotional effects of their illness, it can also provide respite for carers and families whilst their loved one is in the group.

Our main groups are Tuesday and Thursday afternoons (1.30pm to 3.30pm. Drivers use their own cars and must be at least 21 years old. Agreed mileage is paid.

We have a number of Friends Groups at GTHC who raise vital funds in our community for our patients and their families.  Why not join one, meet like-minded people, have a great time and help a great cause?  If you dont see something you like, why not start your own friends group? Graphic Designer

As part of our fundraising and raising awareness, we are seeking a graphic design volunteer to improve and update our corporate identity brand such as updating literature, online presence and materials from concept to final artwork including the creation of website icons, banners and posters. Knowledge of graphic design process, design and print software (particularly In-design and Photoshop) is essential.
