How to get involved

There are many ways your business can help support George Thomas Hospice care and contribute to your company's corporate social responsibility programme at the same time.

We believe a successful corporate charity partnership should be mutually beneficial and should make an active contribution to your business objectives.

With this in mind our corporate fundraising team will work closely with you to identify how best your company can work with Cardiff’s local hospice through a mixture of fundraising opportunities, by supporting our events, through volunteering, or assisting us with the products and services we deliver.

How Your Business Can Help us by Working in Partnership

Charity of the year

Choosing George Thomas Hospice Care to be your charity of the year is an honour that we take seriously and welcome whole-heartedly.

Our charity of the year partnerships are something we take pride in, and we value the support we receive on behalf of our team and the patients and families we look after

Sponsor an Event

We are constantly seeking sponsors who see the potential for public relations opportunities to work with us on these. Whatever your clientele and message, we have the right opportunity for you from our varied rolling programme of events and campaigns.

Give as You Earn

Give As You Earn (GAYE) is an easy way to donate to the hospice - it costs you less to give us more.

How does it work?

Each time you are paid, a donation is deducted by your payroll department before tax is calculated so you will not have to pay the income tax normally due to the Inland Revenue.

In practice this means your donation is boosted by at least 25% so, if you choose to give £2 a month, the hospice will receive £2.50. You can chose how much to give from your salary.

Staff Fundraising

Give your team the chance to get involved. Staff fundraising is a big part of our revenue each year, Your only limit is how far you will go.
For example: dress down days; sponsored run, cycle or walk; pig racing; gold day; coffee mornings or Festive Fridays.

Matched funding from your company

Many companies will match your fundraising please check with your Head Office if they are prepared to match everything you raise.

Gifts in kind

Almost anything produced or sold by a business can be given as a 'gift in kind' - either for us to resell or use in the hospice. Other creative gifts in kind that can have a real impact include:

  • Adding our literature in with your mailshots, payslips or invoice
  • Add us to your website

Volunteering

There are many opportunities for individuals or groups of staff to support the Hospice by giving us your time, either on a one-off basis or a short term regular commitment.

For example

  • helping in our award-winning garden
  • Assisting the fundraising team at events or with administration in the office.
  • Working in the Hospice shops.

If you or your colleagues would like to volunteer on a longer term basis, you can find all the information you need on our Volunteering page on our website
